Anish Bhattarai

Anish Bhattarai, 3rd place graduate student poster competition on the ASA sensor-based nutrient management community. Anish is advised by Dr. Leo Bastos.


Amrinder Jakhar

Amrinder Jakhar won 1st place in the graduate student poster competition of the American Society of America sensor-based nutrient management community. Amrinder is advised by Dr. Leo Bastos.


Qianqian Fan

Qianqian Fan won the Chris Stiegler Turf Science Student Travel Award and Fellowship Award. Fan is advised by David Jespersen.


Saptarshi Mondal

Saptarshi Mondal won two awards: 

  • 2nd Place in the C5-Turfgrass division for his oral genetics presentation “Screening of a Zoysiagrass Mapping Population for Identification of QTL Associated with Salt Tolerance”
  • 3rd Place in the C2-Crop Physiology and Metabolism division for his oral presentation “Assessment of Salinity Tolerance of Finger Millet Accessions through Their Morpho-Physiological and Metabolomic Responses”
Mondal is advised by David Jespersen.

Pradha and Wright

Hallie Wright (in photo, on the right) won 1st place in the 5 min oral + poster presentation in the C07 division.

Shreena Pradha (in photo, on the left) won 3rd place in the same contest.

Both are graduate students in the Devos Lab.

UPDATE: A very big CONGRATULATIONS to Hallie Wright for winning the overall CSSA-wide oral and poster competition. At the recent CSSA meeting, graduate students competed for the combined best poster and 5 min oral presentations within each of the 9 CSSA divisions. The winners of each division squared off  and Hallie came out as the overall society-wide winner!

hackathon-uga

The UGA Bulldog Grad Student Hackathon team (pictured at left) placed second in the competition and took on the task of finding ways to accurately model soil carbon stocks. Each team had two months to develop methodology and carry out the modeling. 

Amrinder Jakhar and Anish Bhattarai are both advised by Dr. Bastos.  Binita Ghimire is advised by Dr. Lacerda and Rajneeh Sharma is a Ph.D. student in Geography advised by Dr. Levi during his M.S.

Binita Ghimire won third place on the precision agriculture systems section poster presentation. Ghimire is advised by Lorena Lacerda.
