Student Photo Contests

Attention all student photographers! Get ready to showcase your creativity and passion in the CRSS Student Photo Contest!

There are two separate contestsone exclusively for undergraduate students and another for graduate students. Whether you're capturing the vibrant energy of campus life, stunning landscapes, or thought-provoking moments, we want to see the world through your lens.

Prizes, recognition, and the chance to have your work displayed on the CRSS website, social media, and recruitment materials awaits the winners, so grab your cameras and let your imagination shine! Contest Details

Dates

  • Photos will be accepted during the months of September - November, 2024. The winners will be chosen in early December, 2024.

Prizes

  • 1st place: $250
  • 2nd place: $150
  • 3rd place: $100

Specifications

  • There is a maximum of three photo submissions per CRSS student.
  • CRSS undergrad students include any undergraduate student majoring or double majoring in a CRSS major (i.e., Agriscience and Environmental Systems, Environmental Resource Science, Turfgrass Management or Water and Soil Resources).
  • CRSS graduate students include:
    • any graduate student working towards an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Crop and Soil Sciences
    • a Dual Master's degree in Crop and Soil Sciences (UGA + Padova program)
    • a Crop and Soil Sciences Master's student in the MPPPM program
    • a student  pursing an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Engineering who is primarily funded by the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences
  • Photos’ width must be between 320 and 1080 pixels and the aspect ratio must fall between 4:5 and 1.91:1 (a height between 566 and 1350 pixels with a width of 1080 pixels). Pictures with higher resolution are also accepted, however they will be sized down to a width of 1080 pixels for departmental promotions.
  • Each submission must include the submitter’s name, email address and major for undergrads and lab information for grad students.
  • A photo title and brief caption (maximum 150 characters) must be included for each photo. 
  • It is necessary for at least 5 students to participate in the contests for them to be valid.
  • In case a contest is not valid, the pictures already submitted will be included in the next round of the contest.
