In his own words ...

Where are you from, and why did you choose to study at UGA/CAES?
I'm from Creta, an island in Greece. UGA was among my choices for grad studies is US, because of its strong research and presence in Agriculture and specifically in Precision Ag.

What is your major/degree program, and what department?
Master's grad student in Crop and Soil science, based in Tifton campus.

Why did you choose your major?
My background was in agriculture and water resources, so I wanted to emphasize more in irrigation and sustainable water use.

What is your favorite class you have taken?
So far the most interesting class I have taken is the "Advanced topics in Precision Ag" (CRSS6060). Although I started this course this semester, it seems very interesting as it covers most of the aspects that are linked to precision ag.

What has been the best experience you've had so far at the college?
I am personally a bit of a traveller myself, so I'd say any field trip or conference trips are my best experience during the 10 months I am in US.

What do you want to do with what you have learned here?
I'd like to broaden my knowledge on my field of studies and try to gain as much more experience I can.

How has your experience at UGA changed you?
The weekly assignments for my courses combined with my research needs, have led me to adapt to a better time scheduled weekplan.

Thinking of the word agriculture - what does agriculture mean to you? In what ways does agriculture impact your life and your culture?
The first thing that comes to my mind is the need to serve the global food needs with the most sustainable way. Agriculture the recent years is facing more and more problems as the demand for food is increasing, while the resources are the same or even decreasing.

What do you like to do outside of class — hobbies, interests, secret talents?
Mostly trying to be active, either basketball with friends or weekend trips. Also there are weekly activities for students such as trivia or movie nights.
