Favorite Aspects of CRSS
One of Payton’s favorite things about the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences is its interdisciplinary approach. Payton initially started in Animal Science but chose to switch to Agriscience and Environmental Systems due to the broad range of courses offered by the department. She believes that the department is an excellent place to explore diverse career paths and discover new opportunities. Among her favorite courses was Principles of Precision Agriculture (CRSS 3030), taught by Dr. Vellidis and Dr. Cabrera. Payton found the subject matter highly engaging and appreciated how this course introduced her to many real-world issues currently facing the agricultural industry and the innovative solutions offered by precision agriculture. This class, in particular, helped Payton gain a “big picture” perspective on the future of agriculture and its evolving technologies.
